About the artist

As a professional graphic designer/art director and photographer, at a certain point I decided to begin anew. I am now enjoying the pleasurable realm of being a fine arts painter working in both natural and lyrical styles.

My interest is in portraiture (people, pets and other living creatures), and I am developing both my drawing and painting talents and techniques by “looking over the shoulders” of the old and new masters. I am also expanding my subject tableau in pursuing still life and everyday life scenarios, working in both pastel and oil.

I attended Arizona State University with a major in art history and graphic design, following up with postgraduate studies in art history, painting and sculpture at the University of Southern California. I have also taught graphic design and art history at the College of the Desert in Palm Desert, California.

I am currently working either at Trackside Studios, located adjacent to the Magnetic Theatre in the River Arts District, or at my studio/residence in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
